The first thing to do is make sure that enough material for XP. I know that RAM for Windows XP 128 MB recommended, but also that it works very slowly. I recommend 256 MB of RAM and at least one processor 800 MHz

If your computer can run XP (see requirements for XP) and if you get XP drivers for all hardware in it, just buy the XP operating system boot disk and him to stay.

The honest answer is that if you have a PC with Windows 98, you can easily upgrade to Windows XP by simply inserting the CD and follow the instructions. They do not have. The reason is that the equipment is so old, it is as scrap, and the XP experience very unpleasant. The best answer is just buy a new PC. They are not so expensive. Even the slowest machine on the market today will be 50-times better than the old PC 98th Bite the Bullet "in this case.

When you go from 98 to XP, you may not like the performance of your computer. XP is much greater and the operating system resources. My advice to you, you can buy a new computer.

While his team are the minimum system requirements for Windows XP, you can buy and install on your computer. Prompted by the installation, the Windows XP install CD to format the hard drive, then. So do it. All you need only one backup copy on a CD or flash drive before hand.

Doing a quick Google search will give you the system requirements for Windows XP.
